He made this announcement during the closing ceremony of the
3rd national games and the 1st 2022 Paralympic Games at the Moradok Techo
National Stadium on the night of November 30.
"I wish to inform my compatriots throughout the country that in the New Year Khmer, we will keep Angkor Sangkran again," he said.

He said that these festivals are supposed to revive
Cambodian traditions and customs. In addition, their re -emergence teaches both
local populations, as well as international tourists, precious lessons on Khmer
culture.
Butnthong added that they are also an excellent opportunity
to educate young people on the values, traditions and customs of Cambodia.
“Events like these will spread the word about this subject in tourist areas, such as Siem Reap, because Cambodians and foreign tourists attend them. This will in turn attract more visitors," he said.
Cambodia would draw prestige, the more its international
reputation grew, the more tourists would go to the kingdom, bringing advantages
to the hotel industry, he added.
Siem Reap Provincial Under-Governor, Ly Samrith, said that
he knew that Sangkran would return, but no firm plan had yet been put in place.
“There must be a clear understanding of which institution will be responsible for each part of the event. We do not yet know what will be required by the provincial authorities," he added.
Tith Chandara, an officer of the Union of Youth Federations
of Cambodia (UYFC) team, briefly said that his team was preparing information
on the organization of Angkor Sangkran.
"We will hold a press conference on December 20 and will then provide more information," he said
